Pharmacy Extension and Shopfitting works
Pharmacy Extension built , structural works carried out to crate more open plan and larger dispensay area.
The client had very limited and difficult space in dispensary to work from. This was due to structural constraints, the business was increasing the number of scripts and struggling for space to work comfortably. Our solution was to build a rear extension, carry out structural changes to make existing area open plan. The new extension would then provide a larger and more organised dispensary. This will let the business continue to thrive and handle additional scripts comfortably. We applied for planning permission, once granted carried out all structural design and calculations for building regs approval.
Pharmacy Internal alterations
To Remove load bearing wall and carry out structural underpining works in Pharmacy. https://campbellschemist.co.uk/
The pharmacy dispensary was almost hidden from view because of load bearing wall, visibility from the dispensary was very limited. It provided for poor security and customer service. Our instructions were to remove load bearing wall in Pharmacy. To provide structural design and calculations. To look after building regulation application and process. Our main work was to remove load bearing walls, which included building engineering brick piers and underpinning work.

Removal of Partywall between shop 81 & 83 + Internal Alterations.
The existing Property is a series of shop located within a terrace (No. 81 to 85Bloemfontain Rd). There are three floors of residential accommodation above the ground floor shops.
The project involves internal alterations to the ground floor shops (No. 81 – 83) to form a single shop unit. The main internal alteration work is removal of the ground floor party wall between No 83 and 83 and the removal of the load bearing central spine wall between shop No 81 and 83. Removal of these walls will create a more open plan shop required by client.
A steel frame structure is to be constructed within the ground floor shops No 81 – 85 using steel beams and columns to support the upper residential floors. The steel columns are to be cast into reinforced concrete pad foundations to support the beams within the steel frames. (refer to Drg SE/83BR/01 for further info.
The method statement and specifications covers the construction of the reinforced concrete pad foundations and the temporary works associated with the excavations required to construct these pad foundations .
Internal alterations and Structural works
Basement conversion and Split property into separate flats.
Our work was to install Basement Tanking, Structural waterproofing & Damp Proofing Systems. To carry out underpinning works.
Contrast Interiors were awarded the contract to convert the basement of this property in Hackney, London into a dry habitable living space. The basement resembled a neglected, dark dungeon and required a fully maintainable cavity drainage system to ensure the interior was kept dry. A complete transformation was achieved using materials supplied by ULTRA Membrane Systems which included Ultra 8mm Membrane, Ultra Drainage Channel and an Ultra Twin Pump Station with high level water alarm.
When converting or refurbishing existing buildings, underpinning may be required to stabilise and strengthen the foundations. The underpinning of foundations involves increasing the depth of existing foundations in order to transfer the building load to a more supportive soil type.
The most common method is traditional mass concrete underpinning. This is a simple technique that involves excavating a segment of ground below the existing building foundation in controlled stages, to a depth where suitable soil conditions exist. The excavation is then filled with concrete and allowed to cure before the next ‘pin’ is excavated as shown in the diagram below.
